Artist Statement Throughout
the course of a day or a year, I am fascinated by light The delights of the garden evoke thoughts of Eden and the Peaceable Kingdom where all creatures coexist in a balanced atmosphere of trust. It is a microcosm of diverse elements, all of which adapts to the conditions at hand. All combined, light, earth and water form the foundation for growth and the iridescent, albeit, ephemeral display of Nature’s gems, whose forms and colour unfold before my eyes with the grace and lilt of a waltz or at times like the drama of a tango. Throughout the process of developing my works, regardless of scale, composition, or color, I follow a sense of spiritual guidance to render the feelings and emotions of calm, of peace, and joy in contrast to the din and distractions often dominating the demands of contemporary life. I too have learned to appreciate the value of quiet moments, needed to recharge: Savoring moments to slow the clock of industrial time. The garden is filled with all the drama of life and it is the place where I have come to recognize that regardless of scale, even small and sometimes insignificant things provide a greater understanding and appreciation of the world around us. The garden serves as my metaphor: A symbol of our search to achieve a balance in life’s journey and the quality of the experience.
